Naoko Takeuchi's creation Sailor Moon is synonymous with anime itself, especially to recent generations who grew up watching it. The series comprises five seasons, several movies, and a near-completed reboot, Sailor Moon Crystal. Though Sailor Moon isn't the first magical girl anime, it has the greatest effect on the anime genre. It's also one of the most popular shojo anime.
